The
Adib, Alim and Fazil Examinations shall be held biannually
i.e., in the Spring and the Autumn, in such languages,
on such dates and at such places as may be fixed by the
Board.
In order to eligible to appear in the Adib, Alim and Fazil
Examinations, a candidate must:
i) Submit his admission form and the prescribed fees to
the Board by such dates as may be fixed by the Board,
together with the following certificates signed by an
authorized person:-
a) of possessing good moral character;
b) of having paid the prescribed fees to the Board;
c) of belonging to, or residing in, an area falling within
the territorial limits of the Board; and
d) of not simultaneously being a candidate for any examination
to be held by any other Board or University;
ii) Submit four copies of his recent photograph (except
in the case of women)duly signed by him and attested by
the person who signs the certificates mentioned in the
foregoing rule.
iii) The following persons shall be authorized to sign
the certificates mentioned in (I) above:
Heads of institutions; officers of the Government, the
Universities or the Board's members of the Senate and
the National and Provincial Assemblies; University teachers
and such other persons as may be authorized by the Chairman
in this behalf.
i) To qualify for the grant of the Adib, Alim or Fazil
Certificate/Diploma, a candidate shall be provided with
a maximum of four examination opportunities within a period
of 21 months.
ii) A candidate who fails to qualify the examination in
the 1st attempt and is allowed to reappear in the failing
paper/s under sub-rule3(I) above, after qualifying the
examination shall be granted Certificate/Diploma of having
passed the examination "in Parts".
iii) No additional examination opportunity shall be provided
in lieu of an opportunity missed for any reason.
iv) A candidate who fails to qualify the examination in
four attempts, may repeat the examination as a fresh candidate.
v) A candidate who is blind or is deaf and dumb may qualify
the examination without any restriction to the number
of examination opportunities/attempts referred to above.
The scheme of studies for the Adib, Alim and Fazil Examination
including the number of papers and their weightage in
term of marks, the duration of each paper etc. shall be
as may be prescribed.
The medium of examination shall ordinarily be Urdu.
In order to pass in a paper, the candidate must obtain
at least one-third of the total number of marks allotted
to the paper, provided that a fraction in the minimum
pass marks shall be ignored.
To qualify for the grant of Adib, Alim or Fazil Certificate/Diploma,
a candidate must pass in all the papers taken up according
to the Scheme of Studies.
A candidate who has qualified in Adib, Alim or Fazil Examination
shall be placed in one of the following three Divisions:
i) in the First Division, if he has secured 60% or more
of the total number of marks allotted to the Scheme of
Studies;
ii) in the Second Division, if he has secured 45% or more
but less than 60% of the total number of marks allotted
to the Scheme of Studies; and
iii) in the Third Division, if he has secured less than
45% of total number of marks allotted to the Scheme of
Studies.
A candidate who fails to qualify for the grant of Adib,
Alim or Fazil Certificate/Diploma for want of not more
than 1% of the total number of marks allotted to the Scheme
of Studies, shall have the requisite number of marks added
to the marks obtained by him in the subjects/papers in
which he has failed so as to enable him to qualify for
the grant of the Certificate provided that a fraction
in the concessional marks shall be counted as one.
A candidate who has passed the Adib, Alim or Fazil Examination
of the Board, or an examination recognized as equivalent
thereto, may appear in:
i) English; and on qualifying be granted a certificate
to that effect;
ii) English, General Mathematics, Pakistan Studies and
one other subject from the Humanities Group not being
a language, and on qualifying in these subjects be granted
the Secondary School Certificate. The Division of such
a candidate shall be determined on the basis of the aggregate
of marks secured by him and the total number of marks
allotted to the subjects referred to above according to
the criteria given in rule 8.
Note: The subjects mentioned in (i) and (ii) above relate
to the Scheme of Studies for the Secondary School Examination.
A candidate who has passed the Alim or Fazil Examination
of the Board, or an examination recognized as equivalent
thereto, may appear in:
i) English; Isl. Edu & Pak Studies and on qualifying
be granted a certificate to that effect, provided that
he had previously passed in English of the Secondary School
standard.
ii) English; Isl. Edu & Pak Studies and two other
subjects from the Humanities Group not being languate;
and on qualifying in these subjects be granted the Intermediate
Certificate; provided he has passed the Secondary School
Examination at least two years previously. The Division
of such a candidate shall be determined on the basis of
the aggregate of marks secured by him and the total number
of marks allotted to the subjects referred to above according
to the criteria given in rule8.
Note: The subjects mentioned in (i) and (ii) above relate
to the Scheme of Studies for the Intermediate Examination.
